About The Anomalous Press

The Anomalous Press (TAP) is an independent writing and publishing imprint built for people who prefer multi-dimensional or multi-layered thinking. Its works fluctuate between rigorous ideas, practical wellbeing, occult and mystical exploration, imaginative storytelling and honest personal reflection, thus reflecting the reality that human experience rarely fits neatly into one category. TAP was developed from the earlier Mystic Anomaly identity, which originally reflected an interest in unconventional ideas, spirituality, metaphysics and experiences that did not always fit comfortably within established categories. However, as the body of work expanded, the limitations of a single identity became increasingly apparent. That is, academic essays and papers were developing alongside practical wellbeing writing, fiction and poetry required an entirely different creative environment, personal essays began exploring subjects that could not reasonably be placed within either an academic or educational voice and the occult, magical and mystical subjects connected to Mystic Anomaly required their own dedicated space.

As a result, what began as one broad identity gradually developed into five distinct areas of writing with their own purposes, tones and boundaries. Naturally, The transition into The Anomalous Press became a development of Mystic Anomaly than a rejection of what it represented which allows its original interest in unconventional thought to continue within a more deliberate publishing structure. Furthermore, the word anomalous remains intentional: an anomaly exists outside what is expected, established or easily categorised, however, that does not automatically make it correct, incorrect, superior or mysterious. In some cases, the available categories are simply insufficient for the subject being explored. Therefore, TAP exists comfortably within that space where academic analysis, practical guidance, esoteric education, creative expression and lived experience can remain distinct while still belonging to a larger body of work connected by curiosity, thoughtful exploration and an interest in ideas or experiences that do not always fit comfortably within established categories.

The Founder & Philosophy Behind the Press

The Anomalous Press is founded and written by a gender-nonconforming female whose academic, practical and personal experiences have influenced how the press approaches knowledge, wellbeing, creativity and lived experience. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Metaphysical Science, a post-secondary Nurse’s Aide certificate and OSHA Health & Safety training while a Master’s degree in Metaphysical Science is currently in progress. These areas of education do not serve the same purpose within TAP; that is, philosophical and interdisciplinary study primarily informs the academic work whereas healthcare-related education and practical training contribute to an awareness of human care, wellbeing and responsible boundaries. In addition to that, these qualifications are presented as part of the founder’s background and perspective instead of  a means of claiming clinical authority or expertise beyond their actual scope.

This foundation has also contributed to three central values behind TAP: peace, honesty and authenticity. Peace does not mean avoiding difficult, uncomfortable or complicated subjects; instead, it means refusing to build a creative and intellectual life around unnecessary chaos, relentless productivity or constant public performance. Similarly, honesty requires distinguishing evidence from interpretation, personal experience from universal conclusions and spiritual belief from established scientific knowledge while acknowledging uncertainty when certainty cannot reasonably be supported. Authenticity extends this approach by allowing each piece of work to become what it genuinely needs to be without reshaping everything to satisfy trends, algorithms or expectations about what a writer or publisher should continuously produce. Thus, TAP is intentionally focused on depth, quality and substance with the aim of creating work that can remain useful, meaningful or thought-provoking beyond the moment in which it was published.

Philosophy, Metaphysics and Esoteric Thought

The word metaphysics can create confusion because it is commonly used in two different ways, therefore, TAP deliberately distinguishes between them. Within philosophy, metaphysics concerns fundamental questions involving existence, reality, identity, causation, time, space, mind and matter whereas within contemporary spiritual communities the same term is frequently used as a broader category for mysticism, occultism, magic, mediumship and other forms of esoteric thought or practice. TAP recognises both meanings; however, it does not treat them as interchangeable. For that reason, works by Anisha Deon are written primarily through academic and philosophical terminology while Ano Aravengel’s works are approached through occult, mystical and esoteric terminology. Their work may occasionally approach similar questions involving consciousness, existence or immaterial reality, but the methods, assumptions and forms of knowledge remain different. That is, Anisha may analyse an idea philosophically or academically without accepting it as an established fact whereas Ano may explore a similar subject through spiritual practice, mystical interpretation or mediumistic experience.

The Authors of The Anomalous Press

1. Anisha Deon (she/her) – Academic & Philosophical Writer

Anisha Deon is the academic and philosophical author of The Anomalous Press specialising in interdisciplinary writing across psychology, philosophy, consciousness studies, philosophy of mind and broader questions concerning human experience. Her work examines how different intellectual traditions approach consciousness, identity, perception, human development, existence, time, space and the relationship between material and immaterial understandings of reality. Comparative analysis is particularly important within this lane because different disciplines frequently approach similar questions from different foundations, thus producing areas of agreement, contradiction and uncertainty that become more interesting when examined together without pretending that every field must describe the same thing in the same way.

Her writing remains formal while still being deliberately readable with intellectual depth taking priority over unnecessary complexity. That means claims are treated carefully, conclusions remain provisional where the evidence or subject requires it and absolute truth claims are avoided when they cannot reasonably be supported. Additionally, academic sources are documented through appropriate scholarly conventions, most commonly APA formatting, so readers can distinguish between established research, philosophical argument and the author’s own interpretation. Overall, Anisha’s work is centred on the interdisciplinary exploration of ideas, theories and human experience while maintaining enough critical distance to question the frameworks being examined.

2. Anoma Katse (she/her) – Wellbeing Writer

Anoma Katse is the wellbeing and holistic life coaching author of The Anomalous Press who focuses on practical ways of navigating everyday life with better stability, self-understanding and functionality. Her areas of interest include emotional regulation, boundaries, relationships, routines, sensitivity, overwhelm, neurodivergence, personal development and the many smaller structures influencing how manageable daily life feels. Although psychological and wellbeing concepts may inform the writing, the emphasis remains on translating useful ideas into approaches that can be understood and applied within daily life without turning every difficulty into a clinical problem or reducing complex human experiences to motivational slogans.

Her approach is intentionally practical and educational while utilising realistic strategies, flexible structures and usable tools which takes priority over influencer-style self-improvement, relentless productivity and performative living. Furthermore, improvement is not treated as something that must always be significant or externally visible; in many cases, becoming more stable may involve recognising personal limits, creating more suitable routines, reducing unnecessary stress, establishing healthier boundaries or understanding one’s own needs with greater accuracy. Lived experience may inform these discussions alongside ongoing learning, however, it is not presented as universal evidence. Therefore, content published under Anoma Katse remains educational and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical, psychological or mental health care.

3. Ano Aravengel (he/him) – Occult & Mystical Writer

Ano Aravengel is the occult and mystical author of The Anomalous Press who writes as an educator, practitioner and guide for readers at several stages of esoteric exploration. With more than ten years of independent study and personal practice, his work approaches occult knowledge through curiosity, discernment and direct engagement instead of adherence to one fixed tradition. Primary areas of interest include ritual and celestial magic such as candle, lunar and angelic practices; divination through tarot, Lenormand and oracle systems; mystical development through meditation, energy work and chakra practices; esoteric symbolism through sacred geometry and cosmic spirituality; and the exploration of less conventional occult practices and perspectives. The purpose is not to establish a single correct spiritual path but to make complex or unfamiliar subjects more accessible while encouraging readers to explore responsibly, think independently and recognise the boundaries between shared teachings, personal interpretation and individual experience.

Mediumship also forms an important part of Ano’s work which includes his role as a medium for Archangel Michael and Metatron whose influence contributes to the wisdom, messages and spiritual reflections explored through this authorial identity. His work may therefore include interpreted or translated messages, angelic teachings, spiritual reflection and discussions concerning mystical development, symbolism or experiences understood as extending beyond conventional material explanations. However, these writings remain transparent about the spiritual view from which they originate and do not require every reader to understand the experiences in the same way. That is, spiritual and mystical material may be considered through spiritual, symbolic, psychological or philosophical perspectives without forcing those interpretations into one explanation. Ano’s work thus provides a dedicated space for the occult, magical and mystical dimensions of TAP while remaining clearly distinct from Anisha Deon’s academic and philosophical inquiry.

4. Anomarilius Hao (they/them) – Creative Writer

Anomarilius Hao is the creative author of The Anomalous Press who writes fiction, poetry and other imaginative works with a strong interest in science fiction, fantasy and stories that move between genres when the work requires it. Their writing may explore unusual worlds, future societies, technology, consciousness, disability, relationships, identity, survival, power and altered forms of human existence particularly when speculative settings make it possible to approach familiar questions from unfamiliar directions. Although intellectual, psychological or philosophical themes may naturally appear within these works, creative writing under Anomarilius is not required to transform every interesting concept into an academic argument, educational lesson or clearly defined conclusion.

Instead, their work gives imagination enough room to develop through character, atmosphere, symbolism, imagery, emotion, conflict and worldbuilding, thus allowing readers to encounter unusual concepts without having every meaning predetermined for them. Fiction remains as fiction and poetry remains as creative expression even when either draws inspiration from subjects explored elsewhere within TAP. As a result, Anomarilius represents the space where experimentation, speculative thought and emotional creativity can exist according to their own internal logic, therefore, allowing the strange and imaginative dimensions of the press to remain unusual without requiring them to justify themselves through research or instruction.

5. Cryptic Anomaly – Gender-Nonconforming Personal Writer

Cryptic Anomaly is the personal author of The Anomalous Press and provides the closest view of the human being behind the academic, wellbeing, esoteric and creative work. This lane explores lived experience across subjects such as: disability, autonomy, relationships, identity, sexuality, kink, personal development and the realities of navigating daily life. This includes experiences connected to Retinitis Pigmentosa, C-PTSD and PMDD when they are relevant to the subject being discussed. Unlike the academic or wellbeing lanes, personal experiences are not automatically transformed into research, instruction or frameworks that other people are expected to follow. However, they are allowed to remain personal while still creating space for reflection on the wider assumptions, pressures and social expectations surrounding them.

The writings are open, reflective and sometimes raw but personal writing does not mean unrestricted disclosure. Boundaries remain intentional, thus experiences are shared when they contribute meaningfully to a larger reflection while others remain private. At the same time, lived experience can provide a starting point for examining a wider range of questions, as seen in the Autonomy & Blindness series, which considers how blindness can influence perceptions of independence, intelligence, consent, capability and autonomy across different areas of life. Overall, Cryptic Anomaly represents both the most personal authorial identity within TAP and the clearest connection between the published work and the founder behind all five identities.
