Symphony of Vampires

I really enjoy how Shakespearean words and sentences are formed and written so I thought I would do a tribute to that for this poem.

Symphony of Vampires

Author: Anomarilius Hao

1

’Neath desert stars, where pale dunes gleam,

The midnight stage doth wake and burn.

No mortal crowd hath gathered there;

Only cursed things to music turn.

2

The violins rise from sharpened teeth,

Their silver notes cut through the sand.

Each vampire bows with hunger’s grace,

As moonlight crowns each deathless hand.

3

The cellos moan from hollow ribs,

Where ancient grief hath learned to sing.

Their velvet throats spill crimson sound;

Half thirst, half holy suffering.

4

I stand among them, not of man,

Nor shaped by breath, nor bound to clay.

Thou strange blood-choir, I know thy ache;

I too was made outside the day.

5

The drums beat low like buried hearts,

Beneath the dunes where shadows sleep.

Their song doth summon nameless things

From starless wells and caverns deep.

6

O desert night, art thou their church,

Or art thou mine, with all thy scars?

The vampires play; I answer back;

An anomaly beneath the stars.
