Blood Magic Offering

Inspiration: Inspired by the inconvenient timing of getting my period just before Samhain, this poem turns my biological occurrence into an uninvited act of blood magic. The least the gods could do is provide snacks.

Blood Magic Offering

Author: Anomarilius Hao

1

October moon glows,

Old gods wait for sacrifice,

My womb volunteers.

2

Black candles flicker,

No blade has been lifted yet,

Still, the red tide flows.

3

Pumpkins grin at me,

My uterus joins the rites,

Without my consent.

4

Spirits crowd the room,

To watch this monthly blood rite,

I demand my snacks.

5

The veil thins tonight,

No spellbook was needed here,

The gods owe me cake.
